Story behind the painting (Part 17) - AYU, 1974.

This water colour painting has been with me since my  bachelor days.  It was inspired by a picture of a Filipino girl I saw in a magazine in 1974.  Of course, those days it was really difficult to get good pictures or photographs unlike today's world of internet.  That's one side of the story.

Then in 1981 I decided to hold my 1st SOLO art and poetry exhibition in Kuching.  I was inspired to compose a poem in Bahasa Malaysia which I gave the title "AYU" to the girl and the poem and in time for publication.

I share here photos showing my friends with the painting in the background, one taken in 1975 with my teaching colleagues at my place during the Hari Raya celebration.

Another picture was taken in 1981 showing my team of friends from Kuching  who helped me stage the art and poetry exhibition successfully at the Sarawak Museum.

Recently, in 2020 i.e. during COVID 19 lockdown days at Kuching I took a picture of myself with the painting to remember the lockdown days.
